Description
Board of Directors:
The Student Council shall be overseen by a Board of Directors comprising:
- Director: One senior teacher appointed by the School Administration.
- Deputy Directors: Two teachers appointed by the School Administration.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Board of Directors shall:
- Provide guidance and support to the Student Council.
- Ensure the council’s activities align with the school’s mission and values.
- Oversee the council’s financial management and budget allocation.
- Facilitate communication between the council, teaching staff, and school administration.
- Ensure compliance with school policies and regulations.
Director’s Specific Responsibilities:
- Conduct and oversee transparent elections for Student Council positions.
- Verify eligibility and qualifications of nominees.
- Ensure electoral procedures adhere to school policies.
- Declare election results.
Deputy Directors’ Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director in overseeing council activities’.
- Provide support and guidance to council members.
- Help resolve conflicts or disputes within the council.
Accountability:
The Board of Directors shall report to the School Administration, providing regular updates on the council’s activities, achievements, and challenges.
Term:
The Director and Deputy Directors shall serve a term of one academic year renewable at the discretion of the School Administration.
This governing structure ensures effective oversight, guidance, and support for the Student Council.
Student Council Electoral Process and Cabinet Formation
Electoral Process:
The President, Vice President, and General Secretary of the Student Council shall be elected through direct voting by the student body.
Nomination Form:
Eligibility:
- All registered students are eligible to vote.
- Candidates must meet specified eligibility criteria (e.g., academic standing, disciplinary record).
Roles and responsibilities:
- President:
- Represent the student body at school district and civic events and other meetings.
- Responsible for coordinating the interviewing, selection and functioning of committee chairpersons and task forces.
- Supervise the functioning of the elected student body officers.
- Develop the agenda for and preside over the meetings of Student Council.
- Conducts him/herself with academic integrity and exemplary conduct.
- Vice President:
- Represent the student body at school district, civic events, and other meetings as requested by the president.
- Coordinate the work of committees.
- Preside over Student Council meetings in the absence of the president.
- Solicit views from their staff groups to share with council
- Secretary:
- Maintain the student body files.
- Prepare agendas for meetings.
- Take and distribute minutes of meetings.
- Represent the student body at school district, civic functions, and other meetings as requested by the president.
Cabinet Formation:
After the electoral process, the elected President, Vice President, and General Secretary shall form their cabinet in consultation with the Board of Directors.
Cabinet Positions:
- Head of Islamic Club
- Head of Tech Club
- Head of Literary Club
- Head of Eco Warriors Club
- Head of Science Club
- Head of Athletes Club
Selection Criteria:
The elected members shall select cabinet members based on:
- Specific skills and achievements relevant to the club/position.
- Demonstration of leadership potential.
- Ability to contribute to the club’s objectives.
Consultation with Board of Directors:
The elected members shall consult with the Board of Directors to ensure:
- Cabinet selections align with school values and objectives.
- Selected members meet eligibility criteria.
Cabinet Member Responsibilities:
Each cabinet member shall:
- Lead their respective club.
- Organize events, activities, and projects.
- Collaborate with other clubs and council members.
- Report to the President, Vice President, and General Secretary.
Term:
The cabinet members shall serve a term of one academic year concurrent with the elected council members.
This process ensures a democratic and transparent selection of student leaders and cabinet members.
